Borealis Advanced Permissions allows for a more granular approach to managing operator permissions. The main benefit is that it allows for permissions to be set across multiple sites (as opposed to a single site). When Advanced Permissions is enabled and added to the Borealis subscription, it allows for site-specific operator permissions.
2.0 Setup Example
If you are the owner of 2 sites (Site 1 and Site 2), you may wish to setup an operator role that allows for the readers to be controlled on Site 1 but you don't want the operator to be able to control the doors on Site 2. You would create a new operator role called Site 1 Manager which specifically allows for reader control on Site 1 but not Site 2. You would then assign this role to a specific operator (the Site 1 manager).
Note: If you are disabling/enabling reader control for a specific site that permission will apply to all the readers on the site. It is not possible to restrict the permission to specific readers.
3.0 Enable Advanced Permissions
The following steps explain how to enable Advanced permissions:
- In Borealis, from the main menu, click Subscriptions (located at the bottom of the list).
- The subscription screen will appear. Here you will see all the important details that relate to your Borealis subscription.
- Click the Enable Advanced Permissions button.
- The Advanced Permissions option will be added to the shopping cart.
- The item will now require payment.
- Once payment has been made the feature will be fully enabled.
- If you are logged into the Borealis user interface you should now log out and then log back in.
