Allegion - Glossary of Terms

  1. Aetheros - Keri’s cloud technology platform which hosts Keri’s web portal.  You can access the web portal from any standard web browser by typing in allegion.aetheros.NET

  2. Audit - A list of events or hardware actions retrieved from an Offline Lock Set.

  3. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) - BLE is a wireless technology standard for exchanging data between fixed and mobile devices over short distances, typically 30 feet or less depending on environment and/or obstructions. It operates at 2.4 GHz.

  4. Confluence - Keri’s web portal for managing Allegion No-Tour lock sets. Confluence is hosted on Aetheros Keri’s cloud technology platform.

  5. Control Lock - An Offline Lock Set  (typically an FE-410 Interconnect or BE-467 Deadbolt for Keri applications) that is programmed via a mobile device using BLE. The control lock allows some programming changes such as create, replace, edit, or remove individual access credentials, and can update a lock within seconds. All without having to Tour the lock with a mobile device to perform the update. Update information is written to the credential and transferred to the lock upon presentation of the credential. Changes to access groups requires the lock to be toured (see Tour).  An Offline Lockset that is programmed via a mobile device. A Control Lock comes in 2 models-a deadbolt only and an interconnect lockset.  The interconnect lock has a single action lever on the inside that retracts both the deadbolt and the latch at the same time.  Neither has a key override.  The control lock allows some programming changes such as create, replace, edit, or remove individual access credentials, and can update a lock within seconds. Updated information is written to the credential and transferred to the lock upon presentation of the credential. Changes to access groups require the lock to be “toured” or visited.

Note: Control lock sets do not have a key/lock cylinder.

  6. Engage Gateway - IP Mode - The Allegion IP Gateway allows you to send immediate updates to your locks following any database change. This eliminates the need to physically go to the locks to update them with new cardholder information. As well as immediate system updating, you can also use the device to immediately unlock any door from any PC that is connected to the internet and to retrieve audit information from the locks.

Note: The Allegion Gateway and all Allegion devices should be connected to a 2.4GHZ Wi-Fi network. They are not compatible with a 5GHz network.

  7. Engage Gateway - RSI Mode (Communication via RS-485) - In RSI Mode, the ENGAGE Gateway communicates directly with a Keri NXT-MSC access control panel via an RS-485 communication bus. Online Lock Sets communicate to the Engage Gateway via BLE which allows these locks to operate in online mode.

  8. MT20W Enrollment Reader - The Schlage® MT20W multi-technology enrollment reader is designed to simplify the enrollment of smart and multi-technology credentials in No-Tour applications. Site administrators use the MT20W to program encrypted smart credentials over a Wi-Fi or USB connection to a PC.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The MT20W will only connect via Wi-Fi to 2.4 GHz routers. It is not compatible with 5.0 GHz routers. The router must also have a minimum data rate speed of 24Mbps.

  9. NDE Wireless Lock The Schlage® NDE wireless cylindrical lock is ready for the future with the ability to read Bluetooth and NFC mobile credentials, along with smart and proximity. Supports No Tour with MT20W and smart credentials. The NDE lock are seamlessly integrated with Keri's popular Confluence, Cloud-based access control system.

  10. No TourAllows users to create, replace, edit, or remove individual access credentials and update a lock within seconds, without having to tour (visit) the lock with a mobile device to update. Update information is written to a credential and transferred from that credential to the lock upon presentation of the credential.
Note: Changes to access groups requires the lock to be toured (see Tour).

  11. Offline Lock Set -  A lock that does not directly communicate with a host or a controller. Real time events are stored within the lock set (within limits) for retrieval at a later time via a wireless connection with a mobile device (see Audit). The lock set does not accept commands or database changes from a host. Changes to the lock set’s configuration are performed via a wireless connection to a mobile device (see Tour). Changes to the cardholder database can be performed by the mobile device or by presenting a smart credential to the lock set to transfer the new data into the lock set, overwriting the old data. Unlock commands can be sent from a mobile device to the lockset via a Bluetooth connection. The lockset is powered by batteries.

  12. Online Lock Set - A lock set that is in constant communication with the head end software, either via a hard-wired connection to a controller, a wireless connection to a receiver that is connected to a controller, or a wireless connection to the software via Wi-Fi. Online lock sets can have commands sent to the lock for actions such as lock, unlock, lockout, lockdown, etc. It can also report, in real time, activity at the door for monitoring and for access and alarm reporting (door held open, door forced open, access granted/denied, request to exit, etc.).

  13. Paired - When two devices are configured to communicate with each other over Bluetooth. For example; a lock communicating with an IP gateway module.

  14. Tour - To visit lock(s) with a mobile device in order to update the lock’s database and/or profile - including tasks such as setting the lock name and editing access group information, or performing a manual unlock or retrieving lock audits.
