Assign Access Rights
There are two different methods of assigning access rights to a credential: Either 'Individual Access' where you select specifically which doors the cardholder can gain access to, or 'Standard Access Groups' - where you setup different access groups by adding certain doors and associated time schedules, you then assign these access groups to the cardholders.
Access rights and sector information are related to the cardholder and not to the individual credentials. If the cardholder has multiple credentials, sectors apply to all credentials. The sectors are cleared if you delete all credentials related to an cardholder.
1.0 Individual Access Assignment
- On the user list, click to reveal the 'Manage' drop-down list.
- Select 'Assign Access'.
- Select which locks the user will have access to.
- The Credential Sector Usage image will display a sector being allocated for each selected lock.
Note: As there are 11 available card sectors per cardholder you will be able to use Individual Access for up to 11 locks. If the cardholder will have access to more than 11 locks then Group Access should be used instead. One sector is then assigned per group, not per lock.
2.0 Group Access Assignment
- On the user list, click to reveal the 'Manage' drop-down list.
- Select 'Add to Access Group'.
- A window will appear allowing you to select the access group for the user.
- Select an access group then click the SUBMIT button.
- The access group will now be assigned to the user.
- In the Pending column you will see an exclamation mark within an amber circle - this indicates that the user data needs to be written to the card - so place the users credential back onto the USB enrollment reader.
- Then present the card to one of the readers that the user has access to. The first time the card is presented the access rights will be written to the reader.
3.0 Editing Access Rights
Certain changes to access rights will be updated simply by placing the credential onto the MT20W USB reader, whereas other changes will result in a change to the database and therefore a database download will be required for each locks that are affected. Here is a list of common administrative changes that are made to access rights and whether on not the change requires a database download (lock update).
When an administrative change requires a database download the locks can be updated in one of three different methods:
- Using mobile app (section 15)
- If the lock has Wi-Fi, it can be scheduled for automatic updates (section 21)
- Linking the lock to a Gateway. Update can be initiated directly from the web portal.
