Borealis Connect App

1.0 Introduction

The Borealis Connect App gives you the ability to perform a variety of functions on your Borealis system using your iOS or Android smart device.

 

The app allows you to add new controllers (using a QR code that is printed on the controller) and also allows you to lock, unlock or temp unlock any doors on the selected system plus masking of inputs and activating outputs.

 

Credentials can also be quickly and easily de-activated.

 

2.0 Download the App

  1. Visit Google Play Store (for Android) or to the App Store (iOS devices).
  2. Search for 'Borealis Connect '.

  3. Install the app.
  4. Open the app.

 

3.0 Sign in to Borealis

When you open the Connect App you will see the Borealis log in screen.

 

  1. Enter your registered username (e-mail) and password.
  2. Click the SIGN IN button.

  3. The app will authenticate the operator account and you will be logged-in.

 

4.0 Add a Controller via QR Scan

The following steps explain how to add a controller to a hub (using the QR code that's printed on the controller).

 

Notes:

  • Before adding a new Standard NXT or Keri KB controllers, the controller must be in factory reset state.
  • Standard NXT and Keri KB controllers must initially be assigned a static IP address. Other controller types can be added using DHCP and then assigned a static IP address once they are online.
  • You must have an available, unassigned IP address in the same range as the Borealis hub.
  • The controller needs to be connected to the same physical network that the hub is connected to.

 

 

  1. From the home screen select the system that the hub is added to (if you have multiple systems).

  2. Click the QR ENROLL option.

  3. Physically go to the controller that you wish to add.
  4. Locate the QR code in the lower right corner of the PCB.
  5. Scan the controller's QR code with the app.
  6. The exact controller model and MAC address will be detected and displayed.
  7. Enter the IP address that you wish to assign to the controller.

    Note: For controllers which are assigned a DHCP address, you can leave the IP address field blank. A scan via the hub that then be performed in the web user interface. Once the scan has detected the new controller the correct IP address will be assigned and the controller will come online.

  8. Select the hub that you wish to add the controller to.

  9. Click the ADD button.
  10. The controller will now be added to the system and the specified IP address will be assigned.

 

5.0 Lock and Unlock Doors

  1. From the main menu select LOCAL CONTROL APP.
  2. Tap READERS.
  3. All reader on the selected system will be displayed.
  4. Select a reader that you wish to control (you can also select multiple doors).

  5. Tap either of the lock, unlock or temp unlock buttons at the bottom of the screen.
  6. The reader/door will respond almost immediately.

 

6.0 Mask or Unmask Inputs

You can mask or unmask any input in the system which is configured as a 'Monitor Point' . Masking an input will effectively hide the input so when it is activated there will be no live events displayed from the input and if the input is used as a trigger in Automation Rules then the trigger will be inactive.

 

  1. From the Local Control menu tap Inputs.
  2. All inputs on the system which are configured as monitor points will be displayed.
  3. Select the input you wish to mask or unmask.

  4. Tap the mask or unmask button.

 

7.0 Activate or Deactivate Outputs

  1. From the main menu select LOCAL CONTROL APP.
  2. Tap the Outputs option.
  3. All available outputs on the system will be displayed (these are outputs which are configured as 'control points').
  4. Select one or more of the outputs.
  5. Click either the TURN ON, TURN OFF or PULSE buttons at the bottom of the screen. Turning on an output will activate the output until it is de-activated (turned off). Pulsing the output will temporarily activate the output (for amount of time defined in the output's settings).

8.0 De-activate Cardholders

  1. From the main menu select LOCAL CONTROL APP.
  2. Tap the Cardholders option.
  3. A list of all cardholders will appear.
  4. There is a cardholder filter option located via the icon in the upper-right.Use the filter to search for a specific cardholder name or a credential number.

  5. Tap the Change Status button the cardholder you wish to deactivate.
  6. Select an inactive status to set the cardholder to (Inactive, Lost, Not Active, Stolen).
  7. Tap the CHANGE STATUS button.
  8. Within a few seconds the cardholder will be deactivated and will no longer be able to gain access.

9.0 Selecting a Different System

If you are logged-in and wish to select a different system:

 

  1. Tap the 3 vertical dots located in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select EXIT.
  3. You will be asked if you wish to exit and select a different system. Confirm this.
  4. You will be returned to the home screen where a different system can be selected.
