Support for Keri KB Controllers

Borealis now supports Keri KB 2 door and 4 door controllers. The KB controllers are cost-effective and built-off the NXT series controllers. KB controllers support NXT readers, Keri MS readers and Wiegand readers and devices. 

Basic I/O control is also supported when using NXT 4x4 modules. Card + PIN is also available when using industry-standard Wiegand keypads or NXT-6RK keypads. 

Presentation
Enrollment
June 2024

The Presentation Enrollment feature allows you to utilize any reader on the system to function as an enrollment reader simply by presenting the new credentials to the reader.

 

When the system is in Presentation Enrollment mode the programmed card data will be displayed in live events and multiple presented credentials will be displayed in a list. These records can then be selected and quickly and easily enrolled into Borealis.

Block EnrollmentJune 2024The Block Enroll feature allows you to enroll a sequentially numbered block of credentials via the Credentials screen. Up to 100 credentials can be enrolled into Borealis in a single operation. Supported credential types are Keri NXT, Keri MS and most commonly used Wiegand formats (excluding MIFARE Card Serial Numbers).
Elevator ControlMarch 2024Allows users to configure elevators and floors in a manner similar to Doors.NET. Compatible with NXT-MSC controllers (using NXT 4x4 or MR16 modules) and Authentic Mercury hardware (using MR16 modules). This relay-based system excludes Destination Dispatch.
Improvements to Data Retrieval
March 2024


Improvements have been made to speed up the data retrieval from the Cloud server to the client user interface. Reports and retrieving a list of cardholders or credentials can now be performed much quicker.
API IntegrationMarch 2024This feature enables screened dealers or integrators to access specific portions of the Borealis API, facilitating seamless integration with user applications. Access to the API requires a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), and both the vendor and project must be approved by Keri management.
PXL Sync Service ImprovementsFebruary 2024The PXL Sync Service has been improved to speed up the downloading of database changes to the PXL controller network.
Improvements to Data Filtering and SortingFebruary 2024User interface enhancements have been made to provide more functionality for the searching and sorting of data, such as retrieving credential or cardholder records.
Organization CreditsFebruary 2024Borealis now allows for credit to be applied to an organization as opposed to a system. This will allow the organization owner to distribute the organization credit to any system that is associated with the organization.
Enhanced Operator NotificationsDecember 2023

Borealis will now post important notifications directly to the admin client so that Borealis users will be kept informed about important information, such as: downtime due to system maintenance, new controller firmware files and upcoming features, bug fixes and user interface enhancements.
Enhanced Hub Password ProtectionDecember 2023

All Borealis hubs are now automatically assigned a strong, unique operating system password to minimize the risk of unauthorized access to the hub or a  ransomware attack.
Detailed Door Status InformationDecember 2023

Provides detailed door status information for all controller types, which is updated in real-time. The readers screen in the user interface will immediately display if a door is forced or held open, opened or closed as well as the current operating mode of the reader (Card-Only, Card + PIN, Lockout or Lockdown), for example.
Support for Authentic Mercury ControllersNovember 2023

Borealis now supports Authentic Mercury controller types and supporting modules (EP series and LP Series). This includes the following controllers and modules:EP4502, EP1502, EP2500, EP1501, MR50 (series 2), MR52 (series 2), MR16IN (series 2), MR16OUT (series 2), MR51E (series 2) and the following Series 3 hardware: LP4502, LP1502, LP2500, LP1501, MR50 (series 3), MR52 (series 3), MR16IN (series 3), MR16OUT (series 3), MR62E (series 3).
NXT-MSC Controller PortsOctober 2023Provides you with the ability to configure the ports on an NXT-MSC controller to support the connection of Mercury MR16IN and MR16OUT modules. These modules provide input and output link actions, such as programming an output to be activated from an input or a combination of inputs and for Elevator Control.
Added NXT-MSC Internal Controller ConfigurationOctober 2023

Implemented the ability to access and edit the NXT-MSC controller configuration via the controller's Action menu. This will allow you to make changes to the controller's internal configuration and assign a static IP address without needing a web browser.
Added Support for OSDP ReadersOctober 2023Added support for single OSDP readers when used with NXT-MSC or True Mercury hardware.
Increased Maximum Credential CountOctober 2023

The maximum number of credentials is increased from 10,000 per system to 50,000 per system. Applies to a system using multiple hubs. (10k maximum credentials per hub).
2-Factor Authentication Using Third-Party AppsOctober 2023

Along with the standard 2-factor authentication codes sent via email or SMS, 2-factor authentication now can also be setup and used with a
third-party authentication app such as Google Authenticator.

Cardholder and Credential Enrollment WizardOctober 2023

An intuitive cardholder and credential enrollment wizard has been introduced to streamline the process of enrolling new cardholders and credentials into Borealis.
Reader Control EnhancementsOctober 2023

To optimize and simplify the reader control options, command buttons have now been replaced with drop-down menus for reader mode control, auto-unlock suspend and restore and reader masking functions. This change also provides improved ease-of-use when administering the system with a mobile device.

  Added support for the PXL-500 controller types:

  • Supports up to 32 doors per hub.
  • Supports up to 10,000 cardholders.
  • Supports PXL-500P and PXL-500W.
  • Most PXL features available in Doors.NET are now available in Borealis (including Anti-passback, Card + PIN, PXL Global Lock and Global Unlock, basic I/O Linkage when using an SB-593, network lock time, auto-unlock schedule as well as the usual standard access control functionality.

 

 

 

New User Interface and miscellaneous improvements and bug fixesFebruary 2023


 

  • Officially released the new user interface for Borealis. For further details, click here.
  • Miscellaneous UI improvements to data sorting
    and filtering.
  • Added the ability to configure basic I/O functionality
    on a 4x4 module.
  • Added the ability to configure door functionality
    (door contact, request-to-exit, door strike, etc) on
    a 4x4 module. Controller inputs and outputs can also
    be re-mapped and used as general purpose inputs an outputs.
  • An e-mail notification is now generated when a new
    user is added to an organization.

 

Conversion Tool v3.0.4.0October 2022

 

Added support for the new v3.0.4.0 Doors.NET to Borealis conversion tool. This version includes the importing of access group names and access rights assignment to cardholders. It also automatically configures Card + PIN settings in Borealis if this feature has been detected as enabled in Doors.NET.

Doors.NET to Borealis Conversion ToolJanuary 2022

The database conversion tool allows you to convert a Doors.NET system to a Borealis system. It will copy across cardholders, credentials, controllers and door information, plus time schedules and holidays. The easy-to-use wizard allows you to connect to an existing Doors.NET system to retrieve the system data.

 

Note: Access Group configuration and assignments are not included in the conversion.
