Borealis - QR Code Enrollment

1.0 Introduction

Borealis has the option of generating and enrolling QR code credentials to simplify the management of temporary cardholders, such as visitors. Once the QR credential has been created it is then automatically emailed to the cardholder and will be immediately available to use.

Note: The QR credential format must match the format configured on the QR code reader.


2.0 Adding the Required Credential Format

The following steps explain how to add a 56-bit format which is used by The Aurora QR credential readers:
  1. From the main menu, click on Credential Formats.
  2. Click the Add button located on the right side of the screen.
  3. Select the Aurora_QR_56-bit_Format.
  4. Leave the credential settings at the default values, then click Save.



  5. The required format is now available for the QR credential enrollment.

3.0 Creating and Enrolling a QR Credential

  1. From the main menu, click on Cardholders.
  2. Click the Create button located on the right.
  3. Add a first name and last name.
  4. Select Never Expire and the cardholder will not use an activation or expiration date.
  5. Or select an activation time and date, and an expiration time and date to make the cardholder temporary.



  6. Click the Save and Next button.
  7. From the Credential Type menu, select QR Credential.
  8. Select the 56-bit format which you added in the previous section.
  9. Enter the email address of the new cardholder.
  10. Select a card status for the QR credential.



  11. Click Save & Next.
  12. Assign an access right to the cardholder or leave at None if you wish to create and assign access rights later.
  13. The cardholder record will be created and the new QR credential will be located at the top of the Credentials screen.



  14. The unique QR credential code will also be emailed to the cardholder.



  15. If the cardholder is assigned valid access rights they will immediately be able to use their QR credential via their mobile device.
