Borealis Release Notes - May 2026

1.0 Introduction

The following lists the updates which have been included in the May 2026 Borealis release.

2.0 New Features

Added Organization Credit Cards Organization

Owners can now manage payments via Organization credit cards. The Organization credit card, once added, will be available for making subscription payments for any System that is added to the Organization. Systems can also have System credit cards and it is the System card that takes precedence if both card types have auto-renewal enabled.


Anti-Passback (APB) for NXT-MSC and Mercury Controllers

The local anti-passback (APB) feature has now been implemented for NXT-MSC and Mercury EP, LP and MP controllers. Local APB functions on a per-controller basis and prevents a cardholder gaining access and then allowing others to gain access at the same door with the same credential. Anti-passback requires access to be granted at alternating entry and exit readers and not out-of-sequence. 

Customize Modules on the Home Screen

You can now customize which modules are displayed on the home screen. For example, you can choose only specific readers to be displayed and you can enable or disable the display of any of the home screen modules(cardholders, credentials, hardware status, live events, etc).


3.0 Bug Fixes and User Interface Improvements

  1. Identified a situation where Borealis hubs could display a false online status. The possibility of this happening has now been greatly reduced and a hub status feature has been implemented (via the hub's Actions menu) - allowing you to quickly determine the true communication status of the hub.
  2. Added the ability to customize which items appear on the home screen.
  3. Corrected an issue where reader status and reader mode information on the home screen was not updating in real time.
  4. Corrected an issue where the status for PXL readers would sometimes show as 'Unsupervised' or 'Unknown'. The reader status field is now blank for PXL readers as the reader communication status is not reported with the PXL controller type.
  5. Identified and corrected an issue where an offline PXL secondary controller would show the correct status on the Controllers screen but an incorrect online status via the Hardware >> All screen.
  6. Corrected a display issue where the PXL Exit reader count on the Subscription screen wasn't decrementing if a PXL 1-door controller was deleted.
  7. Corrected an issue where changing the PXL or Entraguard controller model, prior to making a payment, would not always reflect the correct number of readers in the shopping cart.
  8. Identified and resolved an issue where the user interface was preventing an operator from deleting a Mercury EP1501 controller.
  9. Added a Manage Systems option to the main menu. l Implemented an operator lock-out time period which comes into effect after the 5th unsuccessful log on attempt.
  10. Corrected an issue with operator role levels where it was not possible to select from the full list of available role level values.
  11. A credit can now be issued for unused reader slots. Previously deleting a reader or excluding a reader from the subscription would result in a reader 'slot' becoming available. Now a credit can be issued for any reader slots that will not be used.
  12. The system re-activation fee structure has now changed. The re-activation fee is now a flat rate per billable reader rather than a flat rate for the entire system. The re-activation fee becomes chargeable 30 days after the renewal date has passed.
