Holidays

Holidays

1.0 Introduction

The Borealis system uses holidays to determine if time schedules should be active or inactive. If a holiday is setup but is then not enabled for a time schedule, the time schedule will not activate on the days that are defined for that holiday. A holiday can be for a single day or for a consecutive range of days.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
- If a time schedule does not activate, then any cardholders assigned an access group using that schedule will be denied access.
- By default, when a holiday is setup it will
not be enabled on any time schedule - so if you do NOT want the doors to auto-unlock then do nothing further. When you enable a holiday for a time schedule then the schedule WILL be active on the holiday date(s)

If you do want the door to auto-unlock and grant access to cardholders (which use the time schedule in their access group, then do the following:

2.0 Add a Holiday

  1. From the main menu on the left, click Holidays.
  2. Click the CREATE button on the right.
  3. Enter a new name for the holiday.
  4. Select a site that the holiday will apply to.
  5. In the Start Date field, use the calendar to select a day for the holiday, or a day when the holiday begins.
  6. In the End Date field, use the calendar to select the day when the holiday ends.
  7. From the holiday type drop-down list select a holiday type to apply. For example; Type 1.

  8. Click the SAVE button to create the new holiday.

3.0 Enable the Holiday on a Time Schedule

By default, when you have added a new holiday it will not be enabled for time schedules. To enable the holiday (so that the time schedule is active on the holiday date), do the following:
  1. From the main menu, select Schedules.
  2. The list of existing time schedules will appear.
  3. Use the drop down list of the schedule that you wish to apply the holiday to - select edit.
  4. The holiday settings will appear.

  5. Scroll to the bottom of the reader settings and you will see the holidays field.
  6. Click into the holidays field and place a checkmark against the holiday type you wish to enable (for example; Type 1).

Note: Any holiday date(s) configured for this holiday type will ensure the schedule is active on the holiday dates that are defined in the holiday.

  7. Click the SAVE button to enable the holiday type for this schedule.
