Credit Unused Reader Slots

1.0 Introduction

If a controller has been deleted from the system because the readers are not in use, or if an unused reader has been removed from the subscription (via the Reader's Actions menu located on the Readers screen), then a reader credit slot will become available.

A reader is removed from the Subscription via the reader's Actions menu:

Important Notes:
  1. Only the System Owner has the rights to remove readers from the subscription or obtain account credit for unused reader slots.
  2. Any unused reader slots which have not been removed from the System will be included in the System renewal.
  3. Unused reader slots can only be removed when a System subscription is active.
  4. PXL readers cannot be removed from the Subscription via the reader's Action menu. Unused PXL readers must be deleted from the System or a 2-door controller must be converted to a 1-door controller by removing the SB-593 or converting it to a PXL-500-IO controller using the SB-593's JP12 jumper.

A reader credit slot can be available to use for a new reader which is added to the system. For example, if you have one reader slot available you will be able to add another reader and there will be no additional charge for this reader for the remainder of the billing term.


2.0 View Available Reader Slots

To view how many unused reader slots are on the System:
  1. Log into Borealis as the System Owner.
  2. From the main menu, click on Subscription - located at the bottom of the list.



  3. The Subscription details screen will appear.
  4. On the left side of the screen you will see the number of available reader slots, as highlighted.



  5. On the right side of the screen is the number of enabled readers that are added to the system and fully licensed. Licensed readers are Entry readers, you will also see the number of Exit readers on the System - for which there is no subscription charge.




3.0 Credit Unused Reader Slots

Alternatively, if you have no plans to add additional readers during the current billing period you can instead convert the reader slot(s) to account credit. The account credit will then be available to use for the renewal payment and an adjusted renewal amount will be displayed on the Subscription details screen.
  1. Click on the Subscriptions main menu item.
  2. On the rights side of the screen, click the Credit Unused Slots button.



  3. You will see a summary of the amount of credit that will be applied and the
    number of unused reader slots that will be removed.



  4. Click the Continue button.
  5. The next subscription total amount on the summary screen will be adjusted accordingly and the account credit amount will also be shown (or added to the existing account credit amount).
