Enable Two Factor Authentication (2FA)

1.0 Introduction

Borealis allows you to configure your account to require 2-factor authentication (2FA) when logging into the user interface. Two-factor authentication (2FA) requires you to use the Borealis Connect app to enable 2-factor authentication for your system. Once enabled, you can then select which 2-FA authentication option you wish to use.

2.0 Enable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA)

2.1 Download the Borealis Connect App

  1. Visit Google Play Store (for Android) or to the App Store (iOS devices).
  2. Search for 'Borealis Connect '.

  3. Install the app.
  4. Open the app.

2.1 Generate the QR code in the Borealis User Interface

  1. Log into the Borealis user interface.
  2. Click on your Borealis e-mail address (in the upper-right corner).
  3. Click Account.



  4. Click the Enable 2FA button.
  5. You will see a QR code and instructions to scan the QR code using the Borealis Connect app.



2.2 Scan the 2-FA QR Code Using the Connect App

  1. Open the Borealis Connect app.
  2. You will see the login screen.
  3. Log in to the app with your registered username and password.
  4. You system, or systems will be displayed.
  5. Click on the small QR code icon in the upper-left corner.



  6. You will be prompted to scan the QR code from the Borealis client.
  7. You will see a confirmation that you have successfully unlocked multi-factor authentication for your Borealis account.

3.0 Select your 2-FA Authentication Option

  1. Return to the Borealis user interface.
  2. Click your user name in the upper-right corner and select Account.



  3. Click the 2FA button again.
  4. You will see 3 authentication options.
  5. Select the option you wish to use.



    - Authenticator App - Use an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator. You will need to generate a code to setup the authentication then each time you log into Borealis you will need to generate a new authentication code.
    - Email 2FA - Each time you log into Borealis a login code will be sent to your Borealis e-mail address.
    - SMS 2FA - Each time you log into Borealis a login code will be sent to the phone number that you registered on Borealis.

  6. Click Next.
  7. You are now required to enter the code that has initially been sent to you for confirmation purposes.
  8. Click SAVE.
  9. 2-Factor Authentication is now fully setup and enabled.

4.0 Disable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA)

  1. Log into the user interface using the 2FA code.
  2. Click on your Borealis e-mail address (in the upper-right corner).
  3. Click Account.
  4. Click the Enable 2FA button.
  5. Remove the check mark from Enable 2FA.
  6. Click the UPDATE button.
  7. You will see a notification at the top of the screen stating 2FA methods are successfully updated.
  8. Click your e-mail address in the upper-right.
  9. Select Log-out.
  10. Log back in to the user interface.
  11. You will not be required to enter a 2FA code.
