Hardware Status

Hardware Status

1.0 Introduction

Hardware status allows you to quickly and easily check on the status of a hardware item (such as; a hub, controller, NXT-RIM, NXT readers or NXT 4x4 modules).

2.0 Hub Status

  1. From the main menu, click on hubs.

  2. A list of  all hubs on the system will appear.
  3. The status column will display the hub's status.
  4. Typically the hub will either show as offline or online.

  5. However, there are scenarios, such as after initially adding the hub, where the status will display 'Update Started'. Once the initial update is complete the status will display 'Update Completed'.

3.0 Controller Status

  1. From the main menu, click on Hardware >> Controllers.
  2. A list of all controllers on the system will appear.
  3. Locate the status column - this will display whether the controllers are online or offline.

4.0 Reader Status

  1. From the main menu, click on Hardware >> Readers.
  2. You will see a list of all the readers on the system.
  3. The status column will display whether the reader is online or offline.

5.0 Door Status

As well as the online/offline status of readers, the readers screen also displays door status information:

  1. Door Mode - The current reader mode setting (if the door is locked, unlocked or in Card + PIN, Card OR PIN or PIN-Only mode). Note: Card OR PIN and PIN-Only modes are only supported with Mercury and NXT-Mercury controllers and these modes also require unique PINs to be assigned to cardholders/credentials.

  2. Door Forced or Door Held (requires door contacts to be installed at the door) and the door contact needs to be enabled in the reader settings. The Door Held-Open time is also configured in the reader settings. If the door contact is not enabled in the reader settings then these fields will be blank.

6.0 Borealis Dashboard

After logging into the user interface you will see the dashboard. Here you can also view the status of all hubs, controllers and readers on the system.
