Lock and Unlock Doors

Lock and Unlock Doors

1.0 Introduction

Reader Control allows you to lock, unlock or temp unlock any door on the system.

A temp unlock will unlock the door for the same duration as following a valid card read.

You can send remote lock and unlock commands to a single door or multiple doors.

2.0 Lock/Unlock a Single Door

  1. From the Borealis main menu, select Hardware >> Readers.

  2. A list of all readers will appear.
  3. Place a check mark against the reader that you wish to lock or unlock.

  4. On the right-side of the screen, use the Action drop-down menu and select Lock, Unlock or Temp Unlock.
  5. Alternatively, from the Mode drop-down list, select Lock, Unlock or Temp Unlock.

2.0 Lock/Unlock Multiple Doors

  1. From the Borealis main menu, select Hardware >> Readers.
  2. You will see a list of all readers.
  3. Place a checkmark against each of the readers you wish to lock or unlock.

  4. All selected readers will be highlighted in blue.
  5. from the Mode drop-down list, select Lock, Unlock or Temp Unlock.

  6. Click Confirm to the prompt that appears.
  7. All selected readers will immediately lock or unlock.

3.0 Setting Card + PIN Mode

PXL, NXT, NXT-MSC and True Mercury controllers all support Card + PIN mode, so if a reader is configured for Card + PIN/Dual Verification (Borealis - Dual Verification Setup) you can set the reader mode to Card + PIN using the Mode menu.

4.0 Setting Card Or PIN or PIN Only

If you are using the NXT-MSC or True Mercury controller types, it is also possible to set the mode to Card OR PIN or PIN only (these 2 modes are ONLY supported with the NXT-MSC controller type and require Unique PINs for all cardholders).

Unique PINs are required when using Card Or PIN or PIN only so that the system will correctly determine which cardholder is using the PIN (and therefore the correct cardholder name will be displayed in live events).
