NXT-RM3 v2 Module - Installation Guide
1.0 Introduction
The special purpose NXT RM3 v2 is designed for use without an NXT or NXT-MSC controller and its main function is to pass-through 64-bit NXT credential data to a third-party controller.
The RM3 v2 module connects directly onto an NXT 4x4 module and an NXT-R reader is wired into the power and RS-485 bus of the 4x4 module, and is constantly polled. Any compatible 125KHz HID or NXT credential presented to the NXT-R reader will have the credential data passed-through and sent through the Wiegand outputs of the RM3 v2 to a third-party access control panel.
The RM3 v2 module also has a Wiegand IN input (pins 7 and 8) for connecting a Wiegand keypad, such as the NXT-6RK-H variant - for transmitting standard Wiegand data.
Note:
When using the NXT-R option, the LED on the NXT-R reader will not change state when access is granted - as the access control decision-making is being performed by the third-party controller.

3.0 RM3 v2 Module Configuration
The RM3 v2 must be configured for NXT-6RK combo (D6 is amber and D1 is red) to enable the decrypt feature. Regardless of whether you are connecting an NXT reader or an NXT-6RK keypad:
3.1 NXT RM3 v2 Configuration Procedure
If the RM3 v2 is not configured as defined in the above diagram, perform the following steps:
- Hold down both the white SW1 and SW2 buttons.
- All seven LEDs on the RM3 v2 will flash three times.
- Release both SW1 and SW2, and the unit is now in configuration mode.
- Press the SW1 button to step through the reader type selection.
- Release SW1 when D6 is solid amber.
- Press SW2 and the reader type is now set.
- Press SW1 to select the LED mode - ensure D1 is set to solid red.
- Hold down SW2 and then hold down SW1. All LEDs will blink again 3 times and the module will then be correctly programmed.

4.0 Hardware Setup Procedure - NXT-R Reader
The following steps explain how to use an NXT-R reader to pass the 64-bit Wiegand data from a presented credential to a third-party access control panel:
- Connect the RM3 v2 module to the NXT 4x4 module using the three sockets and standoff jacks on the 4x4 PCB.
Note: The 4x4 module's sole purpose is for mounting and supplying power to the RM3 v2 module.

- Connect the NXT-R reader to the 4-pin terminal block of the NXT 4x4 module.
- Apply 12VDC power and ground to the same 4-pin terminal block (pins 1 and 2).

- On the RM3 v2 module, the LED labelled D6 will be solid amber, the LED labelled D5 will be slowly blinking green. On the opposite bank of LEDs, the LED labelled D1 will be solid red.
- Connect Wiegand Data 0 between pin 2 of the RM3 v2 and Data 0 of the third-party controller.
- Connect Wiegand Data 1 between pin 3 of the RM3 v2 and Data 1 of the third-party controller.
- Connect GND between pin 6 of the RM3 v2 and reader GND of the third-party controller.

- The D8 comms LED will be solid red when the reader is online.
- When everything is connected the hardware wiring should be as follows.

Notes:
- The amber LED on the NXT-R reader will blink once every 10 seconds to indicate that the reader is online with the RM3 v2 module.
- The amber LED on the NXT-R module will also blink and the reader will beep when a compatible credential is presented to the reader.
- There is no LED control when a valid credential is presented. The LED on the NXT-R will always display amber.
5.0 Hardware Setup Procedure - NXT 6RK Keypad
You also have the option of connecting an NXT-6RK keypad to the Wiegand IN connectors of the RIM (pins 7 and 8 for Data 0 and Data 1) and pins 5 and 6 for +12VDC and GND. The reader's LED and beeper wires should be connected to the third-party controller. As the LED is connected to the third-party access control panel the LED color will then change state when a valid credential is granted access.
Notes:
- The NXT-6RK's beeper (blue wire) and LED (brown wire) connects to external Wiegand access control panel (not to the RM3 v2).
- The NXT-6RK +12VDC (red) is wired into pin 5 of the RM3 v2 module.
- The NXT-6RK GND (black) is wired into pin 5 of the RM3 v2 module.
- The NXT-6RK Data 0 (green) is wired into pin 7 of the RM3 v2 module.
- The NXT-6RK Data 1 (white) is wired into pin 8 of the RM3 v2 module.
- Pin 2 of the RIM module is wired to Data 0 of the third-party access control panel.
- Pin 3 of the RIM module is wired to Data 1 of the third-party access control panel.
- PIN 6 (GND) is wired to GND of the third-party access control panel.
5.2 NXT-6RK Wiring Schematic
- NXT-6RK keypad will beep on card presentation.
- The LED will be controlled by the external access control panel.
