Routes and Routing

Routes and Routing

Each device or hardware object that can have a filter assigned can also have a route assigned. The route is assigned to the device and also to the user's login group. The device can be assigned only one route while the user can be assigned multiple routes.

Routes - 1

  • To add a new Route to the system, click the Add Route button. This will add a new route that will be shown in the Monitoring section of the hardware objects and within User Group Assignment within Operator Permissions.

  • In the Description text field create a new name for the route then save save.

Assigning Routes to Hardware

  1. To assign a route to a hardware object (for example; a reader) highlight the reader in the hardware tree.
  2. Ensure you have Advanced View enabled.
  3. Scroll down the properties until you locate Monitoring >> 'Reporting Path'.
  4. Choose a Route from the Reporting Path drop-down list.

    Routes - 3

  5. Save save the hardware settings.

Assigning Routes to Operators

  • After adding user details to an account group, select that account group, for example, Managers.

Routes - 4

  • At the top of the Operators setup page you will notice several tabs.
  • Click on the tab named: "Routing".
  • You will see all the available Routes which have been added to the system.
  • Place a tick against any Route(s) you wish to assign to the user.

  • Then save.
  • When that user next logs into the software they will only see messages from the hardware that has the selected route(s) assigned. This allows a system administrator to create logins that will only receive messages from a selection of hardware, for example; just from certain readers in certain locations.
