Microsoft .NET Framework Notes

1. Doors.NET v6.0.0 and higher uses .NET Frameworkv4.8.1
   
2. Doors.NET v4.8.0 to v5.4.0 uses .NET Frameworkv4.8.
   
3. If your PC does not already have.NET Framework v4.8 installed, the Doors.NET installer will stop and prompt you to install it.
   
4. Photo ID Badging requires .NET Frameworkv3.5. If you are running the Microsoft Server 2019 operating system, you must install .NET Framework v3.5prior to installing Doors.NET software, or else the Photo ID installation will fail. This is done via Server Manager >> Manage >> Add Roles and Features >> Install .NET Frameworkv3.5.
   

SQL Server Compatibility

If SQL is ALREADY INSTALLED on your computer:

1. The Doors.NET installer will poll the host computer and use the SQL version that is already installed.
   
2. This is true for both new Doors.NET installations and for Doors.NET upgrades.
   

If SQL is NOT INSTALLED on your computer:

1. SQL Server 2025 Express will be installed if SQL server is not already present.
   

64-bit computers using Windows Server 2012 or 2012 R2

1. You must manually install Microsoft SQL Server Express 2016 or 2017 if SQL server is not already present. 
   
   

32-bit computers

1. You must manually install the SQL revision appropriate for your operating system.
   
2. Keri recommends installing SQL Server/Server Express 2014 (the last SQL Server version that supports 32-bit operating systems).
   
   
   

SQL Server Express Download Instructions

1. 'SQL Server Express 20xx download'.- I.E 'SQL Server Express 2022 download'
   
2. or 'SQL Server Express 2014 download' (for a supported 32-bit operating system).
   
   

Please Note

1. Doors.NET software installation will not begin if a Windows Update is in progress or a restart is pending due to a Windows Update. Make sure all Windows Updates have been completed prior to installing Doors.NET.
   
2. Doors.NET is released as a complete package, and the components within that release (client, services, installer, etc.) may have different internal build numbers. Components within the same major version (i.e 6.1.x) are designed to work together.
   

New Features

1. SQL Server Express 2025 is now the default database engine. This version of SQL Server will be installed on a new PC that does not have an existing SQL Server version installed. If updating the Doors.NET software, the existing version of SQL Expresswill be used.Doors.
   
2. NET installer will detect where a Windows 11host PC has incorrect disk sector values stored for NVMe drives- as this will prevent SQL Express from being successfully installed. The operator will be prompted to correct this before proceeding with installing the Doors.NET software.
   
3. The Lenel Onguard import wizard has been updated to support the importing of Lenel Onguard systems up to version 8.0.
   
4. Active Directory / LDAP integration has a new feature. When an Active Directory Security Group is mapped to a Doors.NET Access Group, the new feature detects when AD Users are added to or removed from the AD Security Group. For newly added AD Users, they will automatically be assigned to the mapped Doors.NET Access Group. For AD Users removed from the Security Group, they will be unassigned from the mapped Doors.NET Access Group.
   
5. Added the ability to create a copy of any existing access group which has readers and time schedules assigned.
